The Director’s Corner
Happy New Year!
The new
year is upon us and like every year most of us make our resolutions,
plans and hope the new year has good things in store. We’ve done the
same for WAM and the January Newsletter is a good opportunity to let you
know what we’ve got planned. One of our plans is to enhance our
customer service (read: free stuff). We’re glad you’re part of the WAM
family and we’re going to show our appreciation in many ways. First
you’ll see a more spacious, comfortable and inviting waiting area with
free coffee, water (and occasional cookies and other treats), free super
fast WiFi so you can surf the web, read your latest e-book, get some
work done or....just waste 30 minutes with Angry Birds or Plants vs.
Zombies. The coffee machine makes the coffee “by the cup” but it’s easy
to use. If you’re unsure about how to work it just ask one of the
staff. The photo slide show on the main screen will be updated
monthly so you’ll see your favorite student more often plus we’ll put in
the “favorite student quotes of the month” and other WAM news. These
photos will be posted on our website and WAM Page on Facebook too, so
you can share them with your family and friends by sending them the web
link. Our hope is to encourage you to come in to see us each week.
It gives us a chance to say hi, get to know you better and it provides
your child’s teacher an opportunity to discuss how your favorite music
student is doing and what they should work on for next week. Besides
that, you can always grab a free Dum Dum at the front desk!
Carnegie Hall and the Royal Conservatory of Music Exam Registration
Registration
begins this month for the exams that so many students at WAM have been
preparing for. The actual exams will take place some time during the last week
of May through the first week of June. We will be hosting our preparatory board exams this month
to give our students a taste of what is in store for them when taking
the CHRCM Exam later this year. Students will get a chance to perform
their selected repertoire, studies and technical requirements for Rick and their teachers. Sign up at the
front desk. Preparatory Board Exams January 28th. Talk to your teacher about registering for this excellent program.
Monday Glee Choir
There are a few spots available for the Monday night Glee group. This group is for ages 13 and up. Currently the group is working on acappella vocal jazz arrangements as well as pop hits. Let the front desk know if you would like to sing with us!
We are putting the finishing touches on our Holiday CD this week. A free copy should be available next week for all students who participated. Please let us know if you need to order any additional copies. Additional copies can be purchased for $10 each.
